Can Nischitartha be done in a flat?

Yes — most ceremonies we arrange are in apartments. Tell us if the space is small, or if there are smoke alarms; where a fire ritual is part of it, your Purohit plans for the room you have.

What if the muhurat falls in Rahu kalam?

When you choose a date, each time window shows its muhurat and whether it overlaps Rahu kalam. Families usually avoid it where the day allows; if it cannot be avoided, your Purohit will say what your tradition does.

Who takes part in Nischitartha?

A verified Purohit conducts it; the person or couple the ceremony is for sits for the sankalpa, and family may join. Nothing else is needed from you but the name said aloud at the start — and a gotra, if your family knows it.

How long does Nischitartha take?

About 2h, though this can vary with your family's tradition.

Can House of Purohit provide the Purohit?

Yes — a verified Purohit performs Nischitartha at your home, with pricing shown before you book.

Is Nischitartha available in Bengaluru?

Yes, in Bengaluru, from ₹5,800.

Nischitartha

Nischitartha or the Engagement ceremony is done very grandly before a few days or months of the marriage by exchanging the rings. This ceremony marks the closer step towards the commitment of marriage. The couples pledge each other to be together in all stages of life and perform responsibilities after they get married. The ceremony starts with purohit performing Ganesha pooja, Maha Sankalpam, Punyaha vachanam, and Nischitartha is performed in front of friends and family, the priest writes the “Lagna Patrika” and reads it out. Then the couple can seek the blessings of all the elders in the family for a successful and long marriage. When to Perform Nischitartha (Engagement Ceremony)? The engagement ceremony is performed on an auspicious day based on the Nakshatras of bride and groom. Chandrashtamam is considered before fixing the time for the engagement. It can be conducted both in the mornings and also in the evenings.
